CLAC, is a regional network with its roots in the Latin American Network of Small Coffee Producers (CLA, according to its initials in Spanish) and in the Latin American Network of Beekeepers, PAUAL according to its initials in Spanish, both of which were founded in the year 1996.  During the fifth Regional CLA Assembly, celebrated in August, 2004, in Oaxaca, Mexico, CLAC became legally registered, incorporating representatives of small Free Trade producers in Latin America and the Caribbean and of an ample variety of products. Edit

CLAC is open to Fair Trade certified small producer organisations. Currently, 300 organisations of small producers are organised as multiple product networks and “National Networks” in twenty one countries in the region.   It is estimated that the number of families or small producers affiliated exceeds 200,000.  In this way it includes more than a million people.
